A practical workflow for Webhook Tester

Analyze webhook payloads, headers and HMAC locally and build a cURL preview without sending data or receiving requests.

1. Prepare

Provide a synthetic webhook body, test URL and optional secret. Example: {"event":"salesOrder.created","salesOrder":"5000004711"} with dummy-secret.

2. Review

Review event fields, body size, generated cURL and any HMAC-SHA256 signature. Signature calculation depends on the exact body text, including spaces.

3. Apply

The tool neither hosts a receiver nor sends the webhook. Verify the provider signature contract and actual receiver behavior separately; a prepared command is not a delivery test.

Verification before operational use

Use a representative case with the inputs needed to reproduce it.
Confirm the result in the authorized target environment when runtime versions, namespaces, extensions, permissions or system configuration can change the outcome.
Record the source, assumptions, tool settings and expected result so another reviewer can reproduce the check and distinguish verified facts from recommendations.
